Vascular Laser

Treatment

Bye Bye Spider Veins!

Telangiectasias, also known as spider veins, are small dilated blood vessels that can start to appear on the face and or legs. Often the result of damaged veins and or tiny blood vessels bursting; increased pressure, pregnancy, genetics, hormones and or sun damage can cause these to appear.

How does it work?

The Laser delivers pulses of energy to damaged vessels which cause the blood within the them to coagulate, destroying the vessel which is then naturally reabsorbed by your body. Blood flow will then be redirected to veins deeper below your skin’s surface, where it should be.

The Cutera Laser features a unique design and long wavelength that allows treatment of all skin tones.

What areas and types of veins can be treated?

  • Spider veins (telangiectasia)

  • webs or branches

  • thin lines of blue purple or red

  • Most common on face or legs

  • red spots (cherry angiomas)

What do treatments feel like?

Most clients experience a slight snapping or prickly sensation as the pulses of energy are delivered through the Cutera Laser hand piece. No local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required, Cutera exel HR system has cooling hand piece to ensure treatment is as comfortable as possible. Following the treatment, the pain is minimal to nonexistent. There may be some redness surrounding the treated area, minor swelling and sometimes even minor bruising can occur.

How to prepare for my appointment?

First book in for a complimentary consultation to go over the areas of concern. You should avoid sun exposure on areas to be treated for 3-4 weeks, waxing, retinols and hydroquinone for 3-5 days prior to your appointment. You must stop using Accutane for 6 months prior to treatment. Facial treatment please avoid filler in areas to be treated for 2 weeks prior to treatment, botox 2 days prior.

Your Intake form with provide you with the opportunity to inform your technician of all of the above and any medical conditions or medications you are taking that might sensitize you to light, affect wound healing and or coagulation. These medications need to be avoided for 7-10 days prior to treatment.

When should I see results?

Results can be immediate but in some cases the treated vessels may take several weeks to fade. Smaller blood vessels may disappear on contact with the laser but others may take up to 4 weeks to fully disappear. Often, clients find that one or two treatments are sufficient. However, the number of treatments necessary depends on the number, color, and size of the vessels being treated. Some clients may require between 3 to 5 treatments. Following your treatment, some redness or bruising may occur especially  when treating  larger vessels. Over time, it is possible for new vessels to appear, but these too can be treated with a Cutera Laser Vascular Treatment.

Post treatment your skin might feel a little uncomfortable a cold compresses can help.

Patients generally resume most normal activities immediately. However, it is recommended that you avoid strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours after treatment (leg treatment).

Wearing SPF 30 or higher everyday, reapplying every 2 hours is what we recommend not only to maintain treatment results but it is also the best protection from premature aging.
